Heavy snow and strong winds continued through yesterday but last night the winds really picked up and blizzard conditions prevailed across the region. These conditions have continued into this morning and there's only a few lifts able run around the entire resort and these are only accessing the beginner slopes at the base. Frankly you'd have to be pretty desperate for some turns to be heading out today.
A lot of snow has fallen since the last report but it's kind of hard to tell what's fallen and what's been blown around. I'd put it at around another 50cm or so but there has been drifting overnight to well over a metre in places.
I'm sure though that they must have chosen one of the most exposed areas to take the snowdpeth at the base of Hirafu as they've recorded a drop in depth since yesterday. Even Kutchan is now reporting a higher snowdepth which is clearly ridiculous. And it doesn't appear the guys over at Annupuri have updated depths from yesterday at all. Anyway once all this wind calms down there will definitely be some deep riding out there.
The winds are expected to ease later today so possibly after lunch they may be able to get a couple more lifts running but really it's probably a good day to have a rest from the slopes and try out something different like snowmobiling, snowshoeing, look around Kutchan or just stay inside with a movie or two.

Current Official Snow Depths:

Grand Hirafu:
Top - 230cm
Bottom - 90cm

Niseko Village:
Top - 220cm
Bottom - 140cm

Top - 200cm
Bottom - 140cm

Avalanche Information:

Niseko Avalanche Info No.18

Moiwa base 6am: -2℃, stormy.
80cm of snowdrift consisting of hail and collapsed/irregular snow crystals.
Coastal wind: 19m/s NW with 8.9m waves.
Niseko mountain range has been under a strong storm for the last 2days, making snowdrifts develop up to 150cm and still growing in some highly wind-effected leeward slopes.
21m/s WNW gale is blowing at 1000m Mizuno no sawa this morning.
Extreme avalanche hazard is persisting.
Surface slab (±50cm) slides are regularly happening in many steep gulley slopes. Major scale avalanche (80cm) are to be highly considered in 1100m areas of Osawa SE face, Mizuno no sawa and Kozan no sawa (Back bowl).
All gates will be closed today.
Don’t duck ropes to step out of bounds.
The wind should calm down around noon, however avalanche risk will remain high until late afternoon.
Remember that most accidents happen during or just after poor weather.
