A multi-cast sky, blue & grey with no wind. It was -7 degrees half an hour ago, it's now -6, an indicator of the difference in temperature change at this time of the morning. Expect the temperature to hover just above zero today in these parts. The sun is also out & about, it is a bit early though - it's often sunny up here in the morning when the sun is low. The ground conditions are very firm and crispy, so unless your going for the speed sessions on the freshly groomed corduroy this morning, I'd stay in bed until lunch or get the other work done and get out around lunchtime for softer conditions.

Yesterdays conditions were excellent, the perfect kind of powder. Icy patches were to be found, though it was just a case of holding your edge and keeping your ground pressure light as you whisp on pass - on to the next patch of pristine powder. Best places seemed to be off of the top of the 2 man lift at the top of Naeba and down into the challenge course. There are some excellent lines to be found at Naeba; top to bottom - warming your legs up like no other course in the area.

Steep drop-ins, powder run-outs, convex powder 'show-off' (the kinds that make you grin, knowing your being eyeballed by a jealous on-looker) sections, gnarly leg pumpers, icy knolls which provide excellent takeoffs..... etc.

Carve in to the powder, drop your awareness into your index finger, immerse just the fingertip into the snow as it all races past you - and smile, because you're in the mountains.
