It’s windy and getting warmer out there; the barometer is going down. Not great signs for the coming day. If you want to slide, best to get out there early and enjoy, before things get wet and nasty.

Heavy rain is still forecast for tonight, after which the freezing level will come way down quickly, meaning icy and nasty for a short time until we get refilled with a good serving of that Myoko powder. Which won’t take long.

We did have an avalanche reported up on Mt. Mitahara, on one of the chutes down to the base of Mt. Myoko. Very likely wind-loading, although people on the spot say it was really hard to tell from higher up. Could get dicey again if this rain followed by cold creates an icy layer; hopefully it will snow, not rain, high up on mountain, but the freezing level is predicted to rise to 2,700 meters. Higher than the peak of Mt. Myoko.

In short, be extra cautious, and maybe stay lower down in the trees. If it’s not too unpleasant.
