Good morning, and sorry not to have reported yesterday - I was involved in a rescue up on Mt. Maeyama, in front of Myoko.

As usual, the media had the word "Backcountry" up like it was something scary; in fact, the woman who was injured and her team didn't do anything wrong, really. Maybe a bad choice on the weather, but they did everything else right for a stay overnight until rescuers got there. I recently saw a figure on how many people die in the ocean every year, but no news reports put "Free Swimming" in big purple letters or wonders why people don't just stay in the pool.... take care, be prepared, and go out there I say.

End of rant.

We had a little over 20cm of fresh snow up to yesterday. There was a lot of wind, and a lot of windloading of slopes (to go back to the rescue, it was too windy for the helicopter to do a pickup).

Nice and quiet and a little bit gray today. A nothing is going on, good day to just go out and ski day.
