When you love the place you live, you want to tell people they really need to come and ski here. Today, stay home and play a video game. It's raining, gray and fogged in. But I still love Myoko.

It is one of those days when things are kind of miserable. The hope is that the mists are because some colder air is moving in, and that some more snow might fall (or the sky could go blue — who knows?) Actually, the snow should be pretty good, at least offpiste, after the rain and cold, so things are better set up for post-season spring skiing.

Pop in a ski video, open an outdoor magazine, and dream of the good days that are still to come.

Lift operations:

Akakura Onsen: Ginrei No. 3 and No. 5; Kumado No. 3 Quad, No. 4 Triple; Yodel Super Quad; Akakura Chuo Triple. Kumado No. 3 open for night skiing (5 to 10 p.m.)

Suginohara: closed

Seki Onsen: open (one lift)
