Did you see us on the national news last night? Oh yes, Myoko took pride of place in lots of reports on the current heavy snow that is falling on the Japan Sea side of central/northern Japan.

So what's the good news? 40-50cm all told overnight and more on top of that since then. It has been snowing for the most part today, though curiously we had a brief spell when the sun was actually visible up there... as if saying 'hey lets check out all that snowy goodness down there!". It's back to snowing right now and basically visibility is very poor right down to just above the main Myoko town area. People out on the slopes will have been treated to some fluffy snow but won't have been able to see much. Caution needed not just because of the visibility but because of the amount that has fallen. Do take care out there and keep your head firmly screwed on.

There is more on the way too. The Niigata forecast that has just been released says perhaps another 40cm or so between now and 9am tomorrow morning. So we might well be on the TV news again! Actually there doesn't look like much of a let up over the coming week with snow clouds likely to be with us right though into at least mid-next week.

Snow depth watchers, Seki Onsen hasn't taken a jump today but I would imagine a fair amount has fallen over there. We can surely expect that to move soon!
