The SnowJapan forecast had it exactly right; the warm weather and sun (and sunburn for me) over the weekend has given way to winds, colder temperatures and snow!

We could see it coming from about 5pm yesterday, as some big clouds started to form over Mt. Myoko. The winds have now moved to the west on the coast (mostly northerly around here, due to the mountains) and we probably have 5-10 cm of fresh and it's falling pretty well at the moment. You kind of feel like you don't really want any more snow at some point, but it almost felt like the first snowfall again this morning. Nice to have things white again, too...

We're also entering the last week of scheduled lift operations at some of the resorts. Suginohara will open just the gondola next Monday and Tuesday, and then close. Most of the rest are open at least until early April—more to follow as they post these dates.
