Happy New Year! Sitting here along the main road leading up to Akakura Kanko; traffic is still low... Maybe a little too much fun last night? Tomorrow usually is a bigger day anyway. And it looks pretty good out there, some nice snow yesterday, with good cold temperatures. It warmed up a bit last night; we were almost afraid that some rain might fall, but this morning showed a very light dusting of fresh snow instead. Looking at the weather forecast for the week (just click the "6-Day Forecast" tab above here), we have the possibility of heavy snow again around Wednesday, and snow on several other days. So the news is good and we're ready to ski.

Outside the ski areas, there's still too much brush and small trees to really make it worthwhile. There are people out there finidng the good patches, but you really need to know where you are and where you're going, and a map alone is not going to get you back OK. Hope for a couple of more meters of snow to put that greenery to sleep for the winter!
