On a day like this, skiing is probably not the thing you're thinking about, even though in fact it's a perfect day (new snow, blue skies).

The problem is in getting here; the Shinetsu Line is only coming from Nagano as far as Kurohime Station, the next one south of Myokokogen; no word yet on whether a bus will be running from there to stations this direction.

The Tourist Office is now gathering resort information and will be calling me; I'll update as soon as we know on operations. Pretty big quakes here from around 4 a.m., so there is the chance things will be down for inspection.

But, compared to much of the country, that's hardly a problem...

Lift operations:

Akakura Onsen and Akakura Kanko (Akakan): now doing safety checks on the lifts; no opening time has been announced yet.

Ikenotaira: Shirakaba Capsule, Ikenotaira Quad, AB No. 1, AB No.2, Chuo Pair operating.

Suginohara: Looks likely to be closed all day.

Seki: All open.

Myoko Ski Park: All open.

Kuyukamura: Open from 9:30.

Tangram: Now reviewing operations on most lifts; plan to open No.3 if safety checks are OK.

Madarao: Inspecting all lifts; no indication on possible openings.
