After a day of sunshine mixed with occasional flurries, we're back to the snow again this morning. It started out as very light, fine flakes, but it looks like it get more Myoko-style — great big accumulated flakes (the "botan-yuki" or peony snow). The snow has been pretty heavy, though; it's light as it falls, but then quickly forms bonds, so it's heavy shoveling in town. Hopefully this also means a stable snowpack, too, as the snow forms strong bonds and sits happily on the mountainsides.

Sorry for missing the report yesterday, but race season is also here (meaning your writer, member of the local Ski Club, rides an early lift, carries a bunch of stuff around, sits by the gates all day and goes to the obligatory party right after). They haven't figured WiFi on the slopes yet, unfortunately!

There has been some snowfall over the past two days, so I'm using Ikenotaira today as our official snowfall report. I notice that some of the resorts are a little slow in reporting, so there are some sudden jumps of more than the actual snowfall (or increases on days when no snow is falling. They're probably pretty busy, too....
