Good morning from Hakuba.

A nice day yesterday with just a bit of wind, lots of cloud and the sun breaking through at times too.

It was generally very busy out there - as is to be expected on one of the most popular weekends of the season.

Ski resorts sometimes like to throw around phrases like 'best conditions' way too easily and such comments sometimes need to be taken with several grains (or large bags) of salt. They certainly were not 'best conditions', but I enjoyed some good snow yesterday in a few of my fave off-the-beaten-path areas. Still, we always want fresh snow to play in and look forward to the next to cover up all the tracks that have been laid over the last few days.

Alas, we're going to get rained on before that happens.

Early this morning we have cloudy conditions. Bit of a moody feel actually.

As today warms up, expect rain - possibly heavy rain - by the end of today or over tonight but hopefully it will turn into snow sooner than later. The good news here is that potentially heavy snow is due once we get past this mild blip with Tuesday night through Wednesday looking good.

Today is a national holiday in Japan - Coming of Age Day. Congratulations to all those who have 'become adults' (definition: 20 years old).

Hey, how about 'Adult' lift ticket prices only being valid for those age 20 and over?

;)
