Once again the temperature stayed above freezing last night in the valley. This morning there was no appreciable crust formation at 830 m a.s.l. The forecast high for the day is 16 C with the clouds clearing a bit in the afternoon. About then the wind will shift from the the north-west to the south as the "occluded front"* passes. Early tomorrow morning the precipitation is forecast to commence.

* Occluded Front (forming TROWAL)
In a developing wave, the cold air in the trailing section of the wave moves faster than the leading section of warm air. As the heavier cold air catches up it pushes under the lighter, warm air, lifting a parcel of warm air aloft (out of contact with the ground). This forms what is known as an occluded front, or a TROWAL (acronym for Trough Of Warm Air aLoft

N.B. As stated yesterday the hazard will increase with daily warming, especially with direct sunlight. There could be pockets of wind loaded snow that will still respond to the human trigger.

Travel Advisory:
As discussed yesterday: solar effect on the snow's strength, cornice failure, rocks and trees as points of weakness rather than strength, isothermal snow pack should all be kept in mind. Rapidly weakening snow bridges in the creeks should also be added to this list.
