Good morning from Hakuba.

And while we have a mix of cloud and blue sky this morning, the main headline this morning is the strong winds on mountain that are affecting lifts at many of the resorts.

At the time of writing Hakuba 47 hasn't got open yet, and only lower parts of Hakuba Goryu, Happo-one and Tsugaike Kogen are opening as planned with upper areas closed due to the blowy winds up there. Hopefully things will calm down to allow places to open up soon.

(Is it just me or have strong winds been more of an issue this season?).

The forecast is looking rather spring-like over the coming week. Sun expected tomorrow as temperatures start to rise to a high around Sunday when they may hit double digits at base. And it might rain. Oh dear, Sunday might be a day to skip! While it should be getting a bit colder again early week there isn't much promise of snowfall.

---

Today it's the 70th Happo-one Riesen Slalom Race & Event which means that the Riesen course is closed to the general public. Let's hope they can go ahead with it and not be affected by the early morning wind lift disruption. Good luck to everyone taking part. Let's racing.
