After a dull start to the day and some rain in the morning yesterday, it cleared up a bit before clouding over again in the afternoon.

It has been cloudy in Hakuba this morning but while the mountains have cloud hanging about on top, more blue sky is now appearing.

From tomorrow, it's a run of five holidays in Japan - the main part of Golden Week. And it looks like we are going to see lots of fine and sunny conditions for all of that period, along with temperatures warming up to close to 20 degrees perhaps at village level - especially between Sunday and Wednesday.

So it should be a good end to the official season at the resorts.

Just to recap on what remains open:
At Hakuba 47 you can still ride down to the base. The connection with Goryu remains open, but only the top area of that resort remains open. Only the upper slopes of Happo remain open and you need to get the Gondola up there (and back down again). From tomorrow until 5th May the resort will be putting on a bus service between the Happo Bus Terminal and the Happo No 3 car park. The upper slopes of Tsugaike Kogen also remain open.

Happo-one - open until 5th May
Hakuba Goryu - open until 9th May
Hakuba 47 - open until 5th May
Tsugaike Kogen - open until 5th May

Official resort snow depths on 30th Apr 10:

Happo-one:
90cm (Kurobishi/Usagidaira)
Hakuba Goryu:
140cm (Alps daira)
Hakuba 47:
80cm
Tsugaike Kogen:
215cm (Tsuganomori)
