The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here

After a wind-affected day yesterday, we are enjoying a much calmer start today. And some beautiful blue skies as well with just a few clouds here and there around the mountains.

It is one of those mornings when you are just happy to be able to be here. (I must admin, I have lots of those!)

There's no new snow to report alas, but if the forecast is correct we are in for some heavy snowfall tomorrow and Saturday (some seem to be showing very heavy, that would be fun). Might we get wet sleet before the snow though? A somewhat mixed forecast picture, so let's see what nature brings us.

While resorts around Hakuba are now mostly open with decent to good cover, we could still do with a few days of heavy snow to bring the base numbers up; and of course we all love regular fresh snow to play in.

Resorts now start to think about how deep the snow base is and how that will affect the length of the season... less base = potentially shorter season.

Anyway, we are still in January with lots of the story of the season still to be written, so there is a long way to go yet!

Enjoy the lovely weather today and then hopefully the even lovelier snowfall over the coming few few days.
