Yes it is finaly snowing again down to the valley in Hakuba and looks as though it will continue through the week.

In the past 24 hours the Hira Kawa weather station (at 830 m a.s.l., 36 deg. 41 min. 13 sec. N. Lat., 137 deg. 49 min. 29 sec. E. Long.) recorded at 0700 hrs.:
Sky: Obscured (i.e. no cloud form observable/in the cloud)
Temperature: 0.3 Centigrade
Wind:Calm
Precipitation: Snowing one cm/hr. with some graupel
Barometric Pressure: 907 hPa, low and steady

Hazard:
Below Tree Line (BTL) the snow pack is generally below threshold (enough snow to cover surface features so that the snow can move) for snow coverage, but where it is the hazard is generally still moderate i.e. avalanches can be triggered in isolated terrain featrures. Most of the recent precipitation below 1,500 m a.s.l. was in the form of rain.

At Tree Line (TL) there is generally above threshold snow coverage. With the rapid loading of new snow and high winds of yesterday and last night the hazard is in the "Considerable" region meaning that natural avalanches are possible, and human triggered avalanches are probable.

Above Tree Line (ATL) the hazard should be considered as "High", i.e. natural and human triggered avalanches are likely.
