After a nice weekend rain began falling pretty heavily sometime this morning and looks set to continue through the day clearing however as the day progresses. 5 degrees in the valley and Goryu patrol measured plus 4 on top and at the base this morning with precipitation falling as rain pretty much to the top with some strong North/North-easterly gusts. Forecast to clear through the day and for better weather tomorrow.

Backcountry travel advisory:

Temperatures are still warm and currently only getting warmer. There are big holes & cracks showing and South faces are looking devastated. Lots of water sliding under cracks and supported slopes are sitting on cracks and water. Still keep an eye on those parts of the South faces that are waiting to come down with these temperature rises and rain on the slopes. It is still important to time traverses under South slopes early in the day or on days of cool temperatures. North Faces high in the alpine have not been receiving the same solar radiation and snow temps are still relatively cool. Be careful of intense wind loading on the Northern aspects high in the Alpine. A lot of them have fallen but some cornices are still big and will come down with the heat and rain.

Watch solar radiated slopes, and around rocks and cornices as they warm through the day.

Avalanche Danger:

Below Tree Line: Moderate
