Today should be the last day for a while to get out and enjoy those above freezing temperatures we have seen more than our fair share of this week. At plus one degree celsius, you might want a sweat band rather than that knit hat. But this unusual warming trend isn't even slated to last the night. Come late evening, we should be seeing temperatures steadily dropping alongside significant snows, and the next seven days will be a return to more seasonal temperatures.

The ski resort was pretty busy last night and today with a festival, including all sorts of games for young and old alike. Consequently, most of those precious snowdrifts along the sides of the runs that were bolstered by a random 20cm shot in the arm from two hours of heavy snow last night were riddled with tracks, but all in all it is a solid day to be up on the mountain, especially if you aren't a fan of bitterly cold weather but you still enjoy winter sports. The snow is still light and fresh from the all the storms we saw this week, and there was hardly a gritty or icy patch on the mountain. The fireworks last night were the best I've seen in a while, and if you have kids traveling with you, Kitanomine was definitely the place to be today, with all sorts of games and prizes being handed out like candy. Because they were candy.
