Everything is white. A decent snowfall between yesterday and today has left us with a brisk morning, framed by off-and-on flurries and a slight breeze. Furano is still in a sleepy Sunday haze, but on the mountain the lifts have been whirring for at least the last hour or so. The forecast for today calls for cloudy skies and snow showers, so that should be enough to keep any of the steeper windswept spots in a bit of fresh powder.

I was up on the ski slope all day yesterday, and it was fairly wonderful. The snow kept falling all afternoon, and by the time 3:30pm hit, they turned on the floodlights for Night Skiing, and i have to admit i was rather touched by the contrast between the lights on the mountain and the small towns sprinkled in the valley spreading out below. Resting at the very top, I remember thinking it was almost worth the lift ticket just for the view, but I quickly decided I would rather board it than just look at it. The snow was in fairly good condition, as it kept falling through the evening, with only a few icy patches on the sharper inclines to complain about. I will see you on the ski slope again today.
