It is all good news to put in today's report. There was 30cm+ of perfect powder overnight and this morning. Cars that were parked at 8:30am had a genuine 15cm of snow cover on them within 2 hours. There is plenty of powder on the field, and Furano Now personally skied fresh boot deep powder for the first 2 hours of the day. Thank you Furano Ski Area for not grooming the slopes this morning!

The winds are non-existent, meaning that the snow is staying right where it falls, painting quite the picturesque winter scene on all the evergreens we have around here, just in time for the Christmas season. Earlier it was all huge, fluffy flakes coming down at a pace that threatened to bury the town, but as of about 30 minutes ago, things have transitioned over to a lighter, drier kind of powder perfect for skiing. Daytime temperatures are holding steady at -9, quite the warmup from the -18 overnight low. The snow is forecast to continue throughout the day and into the early evening hours. If things keep up like this, the Kitanomine Zone should be able to open any day now.

Slopes on the Furano Zone are starting to look really good although there are a few patches of brush coming through. Todays fresh snow when packed down may burry this. The Spies Course is now open and providing a second run from the top to the bottom. Limited night skiing will start from tonight on the Prince Romance Lift.

Today's snowfall has really bulked up the main base, and with snow and cold in the forecast for the rest of the week, things are only going to get better from here. I, for one, am glad to see it.

It is still currently snowing but this has not interferred too much with visibilty.

Courses open are: Sailer Course, Spies Course, Prince Course.
