Good morning powder fans!!

I woke up to my house shaking in gale-force winds at about 4:30. We live on a farmstead along the river valley, with very little wind cover compared to the town and ski resort, and we were getting absolutely hammered. Eagerly peeking out the curtains, I was surprised to find 100% white-out conditions!! Then I realized that my north-facing window was completely caked with blowing snow.

The windstorm has mercifully abated and we are now looking at a real treat for spring powder-seekers. At least 15 cm of fresh is down at the base, with light snowfall and light winds predicted all day. Gondola has already been test running and the lift office has just confirmed a 9:00 am start.

The cloud system should break this evening, looking at sunny skies with light southerly winds tomorrow morning. This will be a great opportunity to do some back-country at Asahi-dake.

Think Snow. Think Powder. Think a little more winter!
