It's Day One of a rare two-day ski season extension. Late season conditions have been so pristine that ski resort management thought it would be a waste not to put all this snow to good use. For those of you looking to get in one more run this season, today and tomorrow will be your last chances just about anywhere. We're looking at 110cm of snow on the upper half of the mountain, and enough on the lower reaches of the course to ski all the way to the foot of the mountain.

Furano Downhill Romance #2 and the Furano Ropeway are in full operation today and tomorrow from 9am - 4pm. Three lifts were scheduled to operate this weekend, but unfortunately out of those Furano Downhill Romance #3 has been closed temporarily due to high winds.

Yesterday was the first day of the year to break 20 degrees in Furano. The Cherry Blossoms have yet to bloom in Central Hokkaido, but it's currently 10 degrees above with partly cloudy skies. The only thing keeping this from being a picturesque spring skiing day is all that wind. Coming out of the South-southwest at 7m/s with stronger gusts at time, this wind is enough to shut down Romance #3, so be sure to keep your face covered for those of you breaking out the skis/snowboards for the last time this season.

It looks like we'll see some rain overnight with the storm approaching from the south. The rain should clear out by early morning, leaving behind calmer skies and tranquil weather for Sunday.
