Pretty granular and well compacted - thanks largely to milder weather a last week. |

Unlike a lot of the tiny local slopes, this one does have four steep slopes to choose from, is seldom packed and the hotel with onsen is very attractive as is the surrounding landscape |

Personally, I like Kamuro very much - it's great for a day/morning session of beating up and down.
It's my local slope and best when bigger slopes just feel too far away. There is no hassle waiting for lifts and the whole place is very friendly. It certainly isnt pretentious - you can treat it like your own backyard. However, if youre looking for long wide slopes or moguls it doesnt have them nor does it have any furniture for boarders or x style skiers - that's just DIY with a shovel.
The surrounding area (Kaneyama Town) is very lovely and very traditional wooden Japanese architecture - worth seeing in this Ken especially when blanketed in snow.
Unusually, this resort also has a superb cross country course attached.
The snow conditions do fluctuate a lot as these are not huge mountains and the main slope suffers quickly once a warm winter morning sun has beaten down- leaving a lot of icy boulders come the mid afternoon! However, the other three fair better. The resort has night skiing too. |
