It is about 1 hour and 5 minutes from Tokyo Haneda
Airport to Akita Airport, and about 1 hour 25 minutes
from Osaka Itami Airport. There are also flights to
Fukuoka, Nagoya and Sapporo. It takes about 50 minutes
from Akita Airport to Akita Prefecture office by bus.
Akita’s second airport, Odate-Ishiro Airport, opened
in 1998 and has regular flights to Tokyo and Osaka. If
you are coming by train, it is about 3 hours 55 minutes
from Tokyo to Akita Station by JR Akita Shinkansen Line.
It takes about 3 Hours 55 Minutes to Akita Station
from Tokyo Station by JR Akita Shinkansen Line, and
about 6 Hours 25 Minutes from Shin-Osaka Station with a
change at Tokyo Station via the JR Tokaido and Akita
Shinkansen Line.
It is about 3 Hours 10 Minutes to Tazawa-ko Station
from Tokyo Station, and about 15 Minutes to Tazawa-kohan
from Tazawa-ko Station by bus. Local trains take about
one hour between Morioka and Tazawa-ko station on the JR
Tazawa-ko line. Trains to Akita take about 1-½ hours
and usually require a change to the JR Ou line at
Omagari.
It is approximately 2 Hours 30 Minutes to Morioka
Station from Tokyo Station by JR Tohoku Shinkansen Line,
and 5 Hours from Shin-Osaka Station with a change at
Tokyo Station by JR Tokaido and Tohoku Shinkansen Line,
then around 1 Hour 50 Minutes by bus to the top of
Hachimantai from Morioka Station. You can also take the
train on the JR Hanawa line from Morioka to Obuke or
Hachimantai stations then change to the bus services.
From Morioka, there are buses, which take about tow
hours to Hachimantai Chojo bus stop, however this
service only operates from April to October.
