Shiga Kogen is another favorite region and all of the resorts in the area taken as a whole; it is possibly the largest ski and snowboard resort area in the world. Shiga Kogen is located to the northeast of Nagano City, about 40 minutes out.

From Nagano Station, there are numerous shuttle buses that go to the Shiga region and are well advertised - make sure you know the kanji for Shiga Kogen.

By train, take the Nagano Dentetsu Line from Nagano Station into Shiga Kogen – take the train to the last stop called Yudanaka. From there you will find various shuttle buses going up to all the resorts in the Shiga Kogen area. That journey takes a further 20 minutes.
