
Take the JR Tokaido Shinkansen Line for 2 hours and
15 minutes from Tokyo Station or for 15 minutes from
Shin-Osaka station to Kyoto Station. Then take JR
Tokaido Line for 10 minutes from Kyoto Station to Otsu
Station.By
Train
Take the Keihan Line from Keihan Yamashina Station to
Sakamoto Station for about 45 minutes. It is about bout
30 minutes to Yamashina Station from Osaka Station by JR
Tokaido Main Line. You can also take the JR Tokaido-Sanyo
Honsen Line from Kyoto Station to Yamashina Station.
From Tokyo to JR Maibara Station takes about 2 hours
21 minutes. To the west side of Biwako Lake, take the
Kosei Line north, to the east, take the Hokuriku line
north.
By Car
For the resorts to the west of Biwako Lake, take
either Route 367 north from Kyoto or Route 161 north
from Otsu City.
For the resorts to the east of Biwako Lake, take the
Meishin Expressway from either the Kyoto area or Nagoya
regions, changing over to the Hokuriku Expressway and
get off at Nagahama I.C. From there and Route 365, you
should find directions.
How
to get to Kyoto Prefecture
Take JR Tokaido Shinkansen Line for 2 hours and 15
minutes from Tokyo Station or a Rapid Train on JR
Tokaido Line from Shin-Osaka Station for 25 minutes to
Kyoto Station.
By Train
Kyoto’s train station is linked by Shinkansen to
Tokyo and Nagoya to the north and Osaka, Hiroshima and
Fukuoka to the south. The JR Haruka Limited Express
train takes you direct to Kyoto from Kansai
International airport in just over an hour.
By Bus
Long distance buses from Tokyo and other cities
terminate outside Kyoto Station.
How to get to…
Hyogo Prefecture
It is about 3 hours 10 minutes from Tokyo Station to
Shin Kobe Station by Tokaido Sanyo Shinkansen Line.
It is possible to take a bus directly to or from
Osaka’s Itami airport (which serves mostly domestic
traffic). The buses leave the airport every 20 minutes
and it takes 40 minutes.
The fastest way by train to Kansai
International Airport is via the JR
Shinkaisoku from Osaka Station, and the JR Kanku Kaisoku
from the airport. There is also a direct limousine bus
to the airport with departures about every half hour.
The sea route is the fastest and most interesting way to
the airport. Jet shuttle boats make the trip between Kansai
International Airport
and Kobe’s Port Island in 27 minutes.
By Train
Shin-Kobe Station is the Shinkansen stop fro trains
to or from Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo. It is 3 hours and 13
minutes to Tokyo and Fukuoka in 2 hours and 54 minutes.
It only takes 21 minutes to Osaka and 50 minutes to
Kyoto via the JR Shinkaisoku limited express. The best
way to get to the resort areas is on the Bantan Line and
the San-in Line.
By Car
For the resorts in northern Hyogo, take Route 312
north from the Fukusaki Junction of the Chugoku
Expressway. From Wadayama-cho, turn left and either
continue north and Route 482 or take Route 9 towards
Muraoka-cho.
By Ferry
There are ferries from Kobe to Shikoku, Kytu7shu and
Awaji-shima Island. There are two departure points for
ferries: Naka Pier and Higashi-Kobe Ferry Terminal.
