Travel: Osaka

It is about 2 hours 30 minutes from Tokyo Station to Shin Osaka Station on the JR Tokaido Shinkansen Line.

There are many limousine buses running between the airport and various parts of Osaka. Buses run to/from Shin-Osaka Station ever 15 minutes from 8am to 9:30pm and cost about 500 yen. The trip takes about 25 minutes. Buses run about the same frequency from Osaka and Namba stations in about 30 minutes.

There are many routes between Kansai International Airport and Osaka. Limousine buses leave from most major stations and the journeys take about 50 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

By train, the fastest way to the airport is the private Nankai express, which departs from Namba Station on the Mido-suji subway line. It takes 30 minutes. The limited airport express operates between the airport and many main stations. You can also take a ferry from Osaka Tempozan Harbor Village in about 35 minutes.

By Train
Osaka is the center of the rail network that spreads across the Kansai region. Kobe is a mere 30 minutes away and Kyoto and Nara are each about 45 minutes from Osaka. To get to Kyoto from Osaka, the quickest route other than the Shinkansen is with the private Hankyu line, which departs from Umeda station. It takes around 40 minutes by limited express.

By Bus
Traveling by bus in Osaka is not nearly as easy to use as the rail network. You are better off taking a train, but bus maps are available from the tourist offices.
