The JR Furano line links Asahikawa with Furano in
about 1-¼ hours. There is also a train from Sapporo via
Takikawa to Furano. The limited express trains take 3 ¼
hours and are fairly frequent in winter, however they
usually only run on weekends and holidays in the summer
months.
If you are leaving from the airport, take the
Sekisho line. From Sapporo city, take the Chitose Line and then
change onto the Sekisho line. For Furano, you want to
get onto the Nemuro line north towards Furano. You can
also take the Hakodate line north to Takikawa and then
change to the Nemuro Line, which goes to Furano and
beyond.

There are frequent buses that connect Furano with
Asahikawa in 1-½ hours and Sapporo in about 2 ½ hours.

From Sapporo City, take the Douou Expressway north to
the Takikawa IC, and then turn onto Route 38 to go south
down to Furano and further on the Sahoro and Tomamu.
Otherwise you can use Route 274 to cross east to the
region.
