In winter,
the region comes to life with the Ishiuchi Maruyama ski and snowboard resort offering a wider range of ski slopes and facilities for all ranges and abilities of
skier and snowboarder. The altitude of the ski base is
relatively low, but the region receives heavy snowfall each winter thanks to
the geographical characteristics of the region and that fact along with
the facilities enable the resort to annually host various large-scale
national ski and snowboard events.
The top of the resort is connected to the neighbouring GALA Yuzawa
resort and a special lift ticket is available that allows you to ride at
Ishiuchi Maruyama, GALA Yuzawa and the other connected resort, Yuzawa Kogen
- making for an extremely large area that will take you a few days to
fully explore!

Getting to Ishiuchi Maruyama is very easy.
From the Tokyo region, if
you take the Joetsu Shinkansen you can be at the resort within two hours.
Bringing your car is also easy - just 5 minutes from the Shiozawa Ishiuchi
IC on the Kanetsu Expressway.

Ishiuchi Maruyama welcomes the most visitors to the region in the winter months
to enjoy the snow,
but there are fun things to do in the region throughout the year.
Attractions include the peaceful Untoan temple; Hakkai-san, Makihatayama
and other mountains; Sagurigawa Dam and Shakunage Lake; the Uonuma skyline
mountain top road and sporting activities such as paragliding and boating.
