Shiga Kogen is located to the south east of Nagano City in the northern part of Nagano Prefecture.

By Car

OPTION 2
Take the Chuo Expressway and at the Okaya Junction change to the Nagano Expressway, which goes north to Nagano City region and then changes into the Joshinetsu Expressway. Get off the Expressway at the Shinshu Nakano I.C. and head up to Shiga Kogen on Route 292.  (Shiga Kogen is signposted in English).

From the Osaka & Nagoya Regions

From Komaki Junction of the Meishin Expressway, head east on the Chuo Expressway to Okaya Junction, where you change to the Nagano Expressway. Head north on the Nagano Expressway, until the Koshoku Junction where the expressway changes again to the Joshinetsu Expressway. From the Shinshu Nakano IC, take Route 292 up to Shiga Kogen.

By train
(and bus)

The Nagano Shinkansen (bullet train) travels from central Tokyo to Nagano Station.

From Nagano Station, there are numerous shuttle buses that go to the Shiga Kogen region and are well signposted.  The journey takes about 70 minutes.

Alternatively, by train take the Nagano Dentetsu line from Nagano Station to the last stop called Yudanaka (about 40 minutes). From there you will find various shuttle buses going up to all the resorts in the Shiga Kogen area - a journey that takes about 20 minutes.
