RESORT : ARAI MOUNTAIN & SPA , Niigata
VISITED : 20th March 2005
chiko and her friend from home, andy and i headed to arai for our last days boarding for the season :(

the snow was pretty slushy, but i suppose thats better than ice and it was nice to board in sunshine. even with the conditions not being so good, i still rate arai highly!

RESORT : Myoko Suginohara , Niigata
VISITED : 12th March 2005
the second ajet ski trip this season was to myoko suginohara. 18 came along and although the conditions weren't so great, everyone had a good day.

it was great to finally hang out with lisa and matt on the slopes, after a whole season on promises of skiing/boarding together!

RESORT : Nozawa Onsen , Nagano
VISITED : 5th March 2005
another weekend away with shinako, tatsuya, hisako and adachi-san. i'd forgotten how much i liked nozawa onsen, both the ski area and the town, so it was great to go back again.

we boarded saturday afternoon and sunday morning and had some amazing runs. nozawa has some great runs, long and picturesque. we made good use of the onsens as well, i dont think i'll ever get used of the 'natural' odor...

RESORT : Myoko Suginohara , Niigata
VISITED : 1st March 2005
mid-week boarding was too tempting, so pete and i wagged school and headed to suginohara for the day.

conditions were ok and it was fantastic to have the slopes pretty much to ourselves. even better was thinking about all the poor suckers working while we got to go boarding!

RESORT : Akakura Onsen , Niigata
VISITED : 27th February 2005
after a hardcore day at arai, akakura was perfect place to go on sunday. again we were blessed with fresh powder, 40cms if i remember correctly, and conditions were pretty damn good for the whole day.

RESORT : ARAI MOUNTAIN & SPA , Niigata
VISITED : 26th February 2005
rob and i have been hanging to go to arai and we finally made it! and how rewarded we were for travelling so far. there was heaps of fresh powder, perhaps the most ive ever seen and we ended up spending a fair bit of the day digging ourselves out of holes...

arai is definately one of my favourite resorts in japan, the runs are really long and more challenging than a lot of other resorts, and the facilities are great. i wish i'd made it there sooner!

RESORT : IOX-AROSA , Toyama
VISITED : 20th February 2005
once again taking advantage of the free bus, pete, alice, denise, yorks, tom and i headed to iox for a day out.

conditions were so-so, but iox is one of my favourite local places so its always nice to head there for the day. i was impressed with the new board park, heaps of new rails. i even managed a few of the easier ones!

RESORT : Kagura , Niigata
VISITED : 11th February 2005
once again, lovely to escape into the mountains for the weekend...especially with the snow in fine form!

i joined shinako, tatsuya, hiseko and adachi, on a teachers weekend away (there were 13 of us in total). after a six hour drive to kagura, we were all gagging to hit the slopes!

on the first day we stayed on the kagura mitsumata side, and how amazing it was! some of the best snow ive seen since niseko, at times the powder was above my knees! that night we had a small drinking party and then passed out...

we were all up early on saturday morning, so we got an early start. the rest of the group (all skiers) were on a mission to check out naeba, so we made the trek over. 1.5 hours (of pretty much flat stuff) it took us and we only had one hour there! i was dissapointed; i didnt get to see all of it, but what i saw was crowded, ugly and the snow was nothing compared to the kagura side. we made our way back over to kagura and i got to play in the powder one last time before heading back to kanazawa...

RESORT : Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park , Nagano
VISITED : 5th February 2005
eighteen of us headed over to nagano for the ajet ski trip, and would you believe, i spent the most of the day by myself after losing everybody on the second run!

but not to worry, it snowed constantly and the conditions were good, so it was a enjoyable day and i got some great runs in. even had my first few attempts riding the rail!

hakuba is definately one of my favourite places, even though its a little busy!

RESORT : IOX-AROSA , Toyama
VISITED : 30th January 2005
after discovering that iox arosa puts on a free bus direct from kanazawa, it was impossible to resist heading there to check it out again...

margaret and rachel ended up on the same bus, also unable to resist the freebie! it didnt take long for us to all pass out, and the next thing we knew, we were at iox...as easy as that!

the conditions were pretty good, as there was quite a bit of fresh snow about and it continued to snow pretty much for the whole day. it was a little busy, but we still managed to get quite a few runs in! even after rob winded himself with his own arm...
