Shiga Kogen is a region of Yamanouchi town in Nagano Prefecture, about 70 minutes from Nagano City by bus.  Most of the 20 or so resorts in Shiga Kogen are linked (the only exception being the Kumanoyu and Yokoteyama areas).  There is a good shuttle bus service within the region, so all of the ski resort areas are easily accessible from any of the other areas of Shiga Kogen. The famous Snow Monkeys are located in Kanayashi onsen area, on the way up to the Shiga Kogen ski areas.  Visit our Shiga Kogen Guide (new window) for more information.
