With hundreds of resorts to choose from, the biggest choice to
be made is - where to go?
|
The image to the right shows just how many ski and snowboaring
resorts there are in Japan - each one of those markers denotes a
resort! With resorts all over Japan it's probably true to say
that almost everyone living on the main Honshu island or Hokkaido is
within a few hours from a ski resort.

There are traditionally a number of regions of Japan that are home to a cluster of
big
resorts - the main such regions being Hokkaido, Nagano and Niigata. There are also many
resorts in the Tohoku region as well in Gifu and further south in Hiroshima.
Visit our Resorts Center
for details of every resort in Japan, as well as the
Maps Center to see where every resort in
Japan is located.
As might be expected, conditions tend to be better the more north go and at resorts
higher on the mountains, but for those living in Kansai and further south,
there are still opportunities to get on nearby ski slopes, and the excellent
transportation network makes even the northern areas easy to get to.

Find one snow resort in Japan and you'll undoubtedly find others nearby - they
always seem to come in groups. In the following pages we'll take a closer
look at some of the most popular regions.
