We're still in this "winter's back" period! It is another cold morning in Zao. -3 in the village now but earlier on the resort was reporting -7 at Utopia, -6 in the Chuo areas and -9 degrees up at the top there. Also --- 1-2cm of fresh snow.
There's some fairly strong winds blowing about making it really feel cold out as well. Weather conditions this morning aregenerally cloudy with poor visibility higher up the mountain as I write this report.
Perhaps we will see some more snow fall tonight (up to 5cm?) but tomorrow looks set to be a fine and sunny day and temperatures warming up considerably by Saturday.

Once again it is all change after the mild day we had yesterday. Come evening it was snowing and we have just a sprinkling overnight in Zao, perhaps a few cm on the mountain.
It is a very cold morning here, almost mid-winter temperatures once again. -8 degrees here in the village just before and no doubt a bit colder than that on the mountain.
Just light snow falling at the moment and due to clear up a bit later but a chance of more snow later on tomorrow.
Wrap up well it's cold out there today.

At 7am this morning it is 8 degrees in the village and I'm afraid I have to report that it has been raining since yesterdays evening report - and still is. There is a lot of low cloud around and the mountain isn't visible from the village --- not a fantastic day to be on the slopes perhaps.
The good news is that it should get colder later on and we should see some sprinklings of snow on the mountain by the end of the day and tomorrow should also be snowy. Lets hope so!
There has been a fire in Zao overnight starting around 2am this morning - it seems that a small ryokan has been burnt down but happily no-one been hurt. The reason for the fire is currently unknown.

Like many regions of Japan, today has been warm. The day started off mild with the thermometer at around +3 in the village early on and sunny skies.
Things have got cloudier and darker during the afternoon and evening it is going to be rain I'm afraid and with the warm temperature at the moment (approaching double digits), theres is really no chance of snow. Not tonight anyway, but tomorrow afternoon there is a chanceof light snow as it gets colder once again. Potential snow-giving clouds should be with us through until around Thursday.
Today was actually the 100th day of the season for Zao ski resort after the first lift opening at the resort on 22nd November 2009. We are on the other side of 'peak season' now, of course, but there's still some way to go this season.

A sprinkling of fresh snow up top and this morning started off with generally clear blue skies and while it clouded over somewhat it has generally been a fine day in Zao. It started off really cold (-6 when I got up) but ended up being a fairly mild one.
As with many surrounding regions it seems that rain will be falling sometime later on in the day tomorrow with some rather warm conditions (possibly up to around 9 degrees?!) taking away any chance of that coming down as snow. After that though if the forecast comes off we can expect to see colder temperatures and perhaps some light snow falling Tuesday and Wednesday.
Today on the slopes there were actually pretty decent snow conditions in the upper Utopia areas, though it was fairly icy lower down.

It is a mild morning in Zao. There is hardly any wind at all and right now a temperature of about +5 degres in the village and generally a cloudy morning.
Clearer weather tomorrow and Monday with perhaps a chance of snow from Tuesday along with colder temperatures once again though it seems unlikely that it will be much more than light snowfall.

The sun is out this morning andit is going to be a fine and sunny day here in Zao. It's a cold start with a temperature currently of -2 in the village but I expect it to warm up a fair bit during the day. There is hardly any wind at all to speak of and fantastic visibility on the mountain.
Not much more to report there - with the fresh snow of recent days there are good conditions on the mountain for today and hopefully the weekend which will see mixed weather but nothing extreme with perhaps the finer weather on Sunday.
