The sun didn't really find it's way to Yuzawa yesterday but from early on this morning the sun is out and it is a fine day here. There is some cloud around but a lot of blue sky and it is now warming up with a high of around 14 excpected later on. Perhaps even a chance of rain for a short time later, but things should once again clear up pretty quickly.
Tomorrow is the start of the 5 days of holidays in Japan and right now the forecast is for good fine weather right through until Wednesday.

Today started off with some rain but while it has remained cloudy for the most part, the rain eased off and has been a rather mild day in the area. Right now it is about 15 degrees in Yuzawa. Perhaps we can expect less cloud and some sun tomorrow but it still looks like from Saturday it we will see warmer temperatures and a run of fine and sunny days in Yuzawa.

We have had some fairly wild weather over the last 24 hours. It has been raining along with some strong winds -- very strong winds at times -- well into the early hours of today.
This morning the winds have calmed down considerably, enough to let the resorts all open as planned, but it is unfortunately still raining. Hopefully it will clear up later on this morning but cloud and possibly rain is also forecast for tomorrow. After that, the weather should be fine with a lot of sun forecast for the rest of the Golden Week holidays.
Right now is it 11 degrees in town, with a high of around 18 degrees forecast for later this afternoon.
Golden Week actually starts with a national holiday tomorrow. Friday is not a national holiday, but then we have the weekend followed by three more national holidays on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. The last day of Golden Week, Wednesday 5th May, is the last day of the season for Gala Yuzawa and Tashiro. After that, it will just be Mitsumata Ropeway and the main part of Kagura open.

It's a cloudy but very windy morning in Yuzawa. So much that the building seems to be swaying at times and the trees are getting a real good workout!
As you might expect, this wind is affecting the resorts this morning.... Gala Yuzawa is closed and so is Tashiro and the main area at Kagura. In fact, the only area that is open this morning in Yuzawa is the Mitsumata area.

Yesterday really was a fine day out and getting very warm too... the sakura cherry blossoms are noticeable now around town and we are feeling very much into spring now.
It is another mild morning with the sun out from early on. More of a hazy blue than a deep blue, but hardly a cloud to be seen. We can expect a high of around 15 degrees this afternoon.

Kagura is reporting 1cm of new snow up top this morning.
It certainly was quite cold yesterday and the drizzle had turned into heavy rain in the afternoon though it had cleared up somewhat by evening again. Rain again this morning though I'm afraid. It won't have done the remaining snow many favours...
The good news though is that it is showing signs that it might clear up very quickly - the rain has stopped and it is bright now with a good chance of the sun being out before long.
The forecast is for sun later on and then a very fine sunny day tomorrow with temperatures reaching around 14 degrees.

It's a cloudy and foggy morning up on the mountains, though rain doesn't seem to be falling at the moment. It may well be raining during the day and the roads are wet right now, though the news is that tonight it might even snow a bit at higher levels.
The wind isn't causing any problems today so all the places that should be open are open this morning.
Tomorrow, after that rain/snow start might end up clearing up and we might get to see the sun later on while Sunday and Monday are still forecast to see fine warmer weather conditions.

The rain did clear up yesterday and it ended up being quite a nice day in the afternoon with a fair bit of blue skies, though it stayed fairly cool.
This morning I was woken up by the sound of heavy rain outside. It was really coming down with some force a while back. It is not as heavy at the moment but it is still raining and seems likely to be for the rest of the day and also tomorrow as well.
There isn't a strong wind at the moment in town but due to forecast strong winds later on, Gala Yuzawa is closed today. The Tashiro area of Kagura is also closed with just the Mitsumata Ropeway, Kagura Gondola and No1 quad lift at Kagura moving this morning.
Apparently it is raining even up at Kagura but perhaps wet snow up at the top there.
Hopefully things will clear up by Sunday.

It is a wet morning in Yuzawa, with rain falling. Light rain was falling from yesterday afternoon and into the evening so we have perhaps had a fair bit overnight. Hopefully it should clear up around lunchtime leaving the rest of the day to be just cloudy. It is right now 8 degrees in Yuzawa with temperatures not likely to rise much and generally similar conditions likely tomorrow with rain in the afternoon. It looks like we might have to wait until around Sunday for the cloud and rain conditions to clear up proper.
All of Kagura remains open and the lifts at Gala Yuzawa that remain open are still operating.

It did indeed clear up a fair bit yesterday and we ended the day with the sun out and clear skies.
This morning has started off overcast and there is a chance of rain showers later on in the day, but they shouldn't last long. The forecast is for similar weather conditions tomorrow.

Yesterday was a warm one and this morning has started off mild as well. It's an overcasty kind of cloudy early on this morning but fairly bright. It is currently 10 degrees in Yuawa and a little earlier on Kagura was reporting +6 degrees.
The forecast for the day is actually sun, so perhaps it will clear up further as the day moves on - and more of the same forecast for tomorrow with a high of around 17 degrees possible.

It is a bright and sunny day in the region and warm at about 11 degrees now... a fine day to be out there.

Well, this morning Kagura is boasting 15-20cm of fresh snow up there.... impressive!
Visibility looks pretty poor up there early on but the forecast is for things to clear up as the day progresses - and a day of sun tomorrow. Gala has also seen some fresh snow, so conditions for the weekend couldn't be much better.
The snow didn't reach town level with rain falling before but looking like it will quickly clear up ths morning.

It is a cloudy morning in Yuzawa and about 7 degrees at 9:30am with just a slight breeze in town.
Almost all of Kagura remains open at this point - the only areas being closed at the far left side of Tashiro around the Dragondola (which is closed itself of course) and the downhill course from the base of Mitsumata to the car park in that area.
At Gala Yuzawa, one of the main quads and the top lift in the Central Area and the Vicoria quad lift in the Northern Area reamin open.
We were looking forward to a fine weekend of weather but the lastest forecast has us down for rain from this evening - along with strong winds - and into tomorrow, though Sunday and Monday look like they will be clear days with a fair bit of sun along with warmer temperatures.

There is some snow to report on the mountains around Yuzawa this morning!
Kagura is reporting 2-3cm and Gala Yuzawa is also claiming a sprinkling up there.
It wasn't looking too likely yesterday. After the fine start to the day, clouds moved in and it was raining by evening with some strong winds again.
The wind is still with us this morning, and it is colder, but the rain/snow has stopped and there is a fair amount of blue sky on show. Gala Yuzawa is openbut thewinds are affecting operations over at Kagura - with just the Mitsumata Ropeway > Kagura No1 pair lift open this morning.
Perhaps more rain/sleet/snow (higher up) tonight but things should be clearer come Friday and the weekend.

It only really started raining later on in the day yesterday but it did and there were some very strong winds as well.
This morning things are much calmer, the sun is out and there are fair skies. It is much warmer too - 14 degrees already, with a high of around 18 likely - though we might see more rain by the end of the day and tomorrow, as well as colder temperatures again. It's all up and down at the moment!
Kagura and Gala Yuzawa are both open as normal today.

The rain is holding off this morning and the roads are dry at the moment - in Yuzawa anyway, it has been raining a bit to the north in Minamiuonuma and the forecast is indeed rain for Yuzawa and the Naeba area today.
It is 10 degrees now and there is some fairly strong winds blowing about. The winds are affecting the resorts that remain open - Gala Yuzawa is closed for the day and so is the Tashiro area of Kagura. Mitsumata Ropeway is open with the resort open up until the Kagura No1 pair lift.... so basically that is the only area open in the region today.

Light rain is falling as I write this in Yuzawa and it looks set in for the day - not the best of weather to end the season on for the two resorts that close at the end of operations today. It is about 8 degrees at the moment with just a slight wind.
Tomorrow we will likely see a continuation of the rainy conditions along with a good chance of strong winds at times.
So, from tomorrow it's down to Gala Yuzawa and Kagura....

As forecast, it is a fine morning in Yuzawa. Lots of blue sky with some wispy cloud up there as well. It's a warm spring morning and already 12 degrees in Yuzawa with a high of around 16 later on in the day.
If you want a last ski at Kandatsu or Naeba, today is the day! Tomorrow is their last day of the season but cloud and a good chance of rain is forecast and it looks like we might be on the receiving end of more rain Monday/Tuesday.

After a cloudy start followed by clearer sunny and warm conditions yesterday, it is raining in Yuzawa this morning. Fairly heavily as well at the moment, though higher up at Kagura they are reporting snow. It is certainly a colder morning and right now it is 3 degrees in town and 0 degrees at Kagura.
The next three days look like they will be warmer once again with lots of sun likely.

Yesterday was cloudy all day, with some interesting low cloud throghout the day in the region. It was fairly mild but somehow looked wintery.
Today will be another warm day (currently 7 degrees in town) and it is likely to get to around 12 degrees midday. It's a cloudy start and likely to be similar all day.... perhaps a chance of rain tomorrow with colder temperatures.

Welcome to the last stretch of the season in Yuzawa. Yesterday saw a number of resorts close for the season and now we just have a handful open - Naeba and Kandatsu have another week left, Gala and Tashiro plan to be open until 5th May and Kagura Mitsumata hopes to be open right through until 23rd May.
It's a shame that resorts have closed as apart from some patches appearing on lower slopes, there is still a lot of snow around. There hasn't been a huge amount of skiers and snowboarders though....!
It is a cloudy start to the day and quite warm too - right now it is 7 degeees in town and a high of around 11 degrees is forecast for later in the day. The forecast for tomorrow is cloud with perhaps some sunny spells and temperatures a little higher than today.

And fine clear and sunny it is early on this morning with blue skies all around.
We did get some spots of rain for a short time yesterday afternoon along with some strong winds after it had clouded over, and it was quite a cold night, but the clouds have all cleared up this morning.
It is going to be a windy day though in town and Gala Yuzawa have announced that they won't be open today because of the winds. At the time of writing, other resorts seem to be opening as normal.
It is the last day of the season for a number of resorts in the area:
Yuzawa Nakazato
Nakazato Snow Wood
Yuzawa Park
Iwappara
NASPA Ski Garden
Ipponsugi
Yuzawa Kogen
Ishiuchi Maruyama
Joetsu Kokusai
Other resort closing dates as posted below.

Yesterday was a generally cloudy day though we did see blue skies and the sun from time to time. It got pretty warm as well with a high of around 11 degrees in the afternoon. By evening there were some fairly strong wind blowing around and it got even warmer overnight.
Overnight we have had rain fall and it is raining as I write this report - a wet, cloudy morning in Yuzawa. The temperature has been dropping from early morning and at the moment it is 5 degrees with rain forecast until around midday followed by just cloudy conditions.
Mixed weather conditions forecast for the weekend though it may well end up being generally fine weather, especially on Sunday.
With these warmer conditions the last day or so has seen a considerable amount of snow melt and conditions will also have been hit - best conditions will surely be found up high at Gala and Kagura.

A fine and sunny day was forecast for today, but it is cloudy to start off with here in Yuzawa. It is warm though and even at 9am almost 8 degrees with a high of around 12 likely later on this afternoon.
It was raining ever so slightly just a short while back but is holding off now though some strong winds are forecast later on in the day along with a good chance of rain again tonight. The strong winds mean that Gala Yuzawa is not going to open today.
