Well, the season is now officially over in Rusutsu. There is still a lot of snow left and people hiking up will be able to ski down, but the lifts won't take you up there now!
So, things will be warm up from now and hopefully we can look forward to a pleasant spring season into summer.
We plan to be back reporting on Rusutsu next winter season, perhaps with an occasional update in the coming off-season as well.
In the meantime, thank you for reading the reports and we hope you have a fine spring and summer. |

Well, it's the last day of 09/10 season in Rusutsu today. The sun is shining brightly, the visiability is excellent. There has been only light dusting yesterday evening, and there isn't much fresh snow but the weather is really beautifull. It'll be a very nice end of the season day, a really good and snowy season. There's plenty of snow at the moment, and it's a shame it's the last day today. But let's not waste it, and enjoy every minute of it.

It was a sunny day yesterday, showing the beautiful views. It snowed over night, and there was about 5cm of fresh snow in the morning. It's cloudy at the moment with occassional snow showers and with some sun glimpses. Some more snow is expected throughout the day, and it should be good skiing for the season.

It rained first lightly and a little bit heavier in the afternoon, melting at least 10cm of snow. This morning we got up to the clear sky and bright sun. It's quite windy today, and some exposed runs are icy. Some snow is expected tomorrow but not a very singnificant amount.

It was a cloudy mild day yesterday. It didn't either snow or rain, and the wind wasn't as strong as it was expected either. Southern winds brought even mild weather today, and the temperature will stay above 0 even at the top of the mountain today. It is expected to rain throughout the day.

The temperature went up yesterday and was positive at the village level. The slopes stayed safe though the snow got heavier at the bottom part of the mountains. Today looks like a tipical late March/early April day: cloudy with some glimpses of the sun. There hasn't been any snow since the last report so off piste won't be great today but groomed runs should be fairly good. Besides, quite strong wind is predicted through today, tomorrow and the next several days.

A sunny nice day yesterday, no new snow but excellent visiability. The snow was excellent especially at the top of the mountain, and very small number of people contributed to the success of the day. It dusted lightly in the evening but for a short while. It's another bright sunny day today, and the snow should be still good. It looks like it might be the last good day as rain is expected tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. There should be some snow on Saturday but at the moment it doesn't look like there'll be enough to improve the situation.
