The blue sky and sunshine of yesterday is now a distant memory, only to be replaced by rain and cloud.
So unless you're really keen, then look at the alternatives:
- Check out the snow monkeys
- Take a tour of the 13 free onsens (if you do all 13 you can claim a gift from the tourism office)
- Check out the temples
- Try the lunch special at Hamacho Sushi
- Grab a book and snuggle up in front of the heater.
Don't worry too much though because after today things should get back to normal with light to moderate snow forecast to fall for the next 4-5 days.
If you do head up the mountain dress warm and make sure you wear your most waterproof jacket.

Yesterday was a fabulous day on the mountain with knee deep powder across the resort. And after Saturday's lift closures the crowds were quick to carve it all up.
The weather today should be good with clear skies and light winds in the morning followed by some clouds in the afternoon. Unfortunately there is heavy rain on its way tonight, so those looking for some powder turns should get up there today and make the most of it.
Thankfully the good news is that Thursday's heavy rain has been replaced by snow.
Let's hope that it stays that way.

Today is going to be one of the seasons best powder days.
The gondolas are opening this morning leaving approximately half a meter of fresh powder on the upper slopes to be carved up.
The weather for today should see moderate winds from the North-west and improving visibility. So get up and enjoy some amazing powder skiing.
After possibly clear and fine weather tomorow, unfortunately we seem to have a chance of seeing at times heavy rain expected Tuesday-Thursday. So weather conditions might not be great for the rest of the week.
Let's hope that the weather man gets it totally wrong this time!

The big dump came last night with half a meter of snow falling across the resort. This has given us our biggest base of the season (335cm).
Unfortunately gale force winds have caused both gondolas to be put on standby this morning, leaving crowds of people waiting impatiently for their dose of powder.
If you're determine to get up the hill head over to the Challenger pair or Hikage triple. Otherwise Sunday is going to be your best bet, with lighter winds and better visibility expected.
Tonight is going to see the heavy snow continue with another 25cm expected in the coming 24 hours.
The forecast for early next week is improving conditions with moderate winds and good visibility.

Today is going to be good day up on the mountain with OK visibility, moderate winds and firm packed powder on the runs.
There's a massive 'up to 85cm' of fresh snow forecast to fall between tonight and Sunday so here's hoping that comes true. Unfortunately this will be accompanied by 50-60km/h winds. If the winds do get this strong there is a good chance the gondolas will be put on standby, so make sure your up at the lifts early to beat the crowds.
After Monday there is a decent amount of rain expected so in that respect let's pray the weather man gets it wrong!

Yesterday was an great powder day for those lucky enough to be up on the mountain. And the good news is that today should provide more of the same with some more snowfall overnight, though not a huge amount.
Visibility will be quite poor up top however on the lower slopes it should improve. For those looking for some fresh powder turns head into the trees around Yamabiko. Otherwise stay lower down the mountain and enjoy the freshly groomed trails.
The forecast for the coming days is for a heavy fall of snow beginning on Friday afternoon.

Snow has been falling across the resort this morning!
We've had 15cm of fresh snow, which added to yesterday's 10cm - meaning powder runs for those who are keen. It will be light winds and reasonable visibility today, with the lower slopes being the pick of the bunch.
The forecast for the next few days is snow, snow and more snow. The heaviest expected to fall later in the week. This should hopefully make way for a great powder weekend.
