It is a very warm and sunny start to the day here in Naeba. Very mild indeed with the thermometer saying +6 degrees at the base of the resort at Naeba and +4 even at the top of Kagura. Snow conditions as you might expect for such weather conditions.
All resorts are open as normal this morning. Later on we will likely see some strong winds, but for now that doesn't seem to be affecting operations.
Tomorrow - mixed reports on different forecasts, but it seems most likely to end up another generally fine day, but perhaps not as warm as today.

Kagura are this morning reporting around 10cm of fresh snow!
Yes after the cloud of yesterday afternoon the snow clouds returned and gave us a valuable 10cm or so, though lower down the mountain it is less with just a few cm in the village area. We'll take it though! There will be some good runs up there, first up will have some special spring fun.
There's some cloud hanging on but there's also a fair bit of blue sky appearing - looks like it will turn into a fine day. The sun is currently casting large shadows of the hotel onto the lower slopes of Naeba.
Into the weekend tomorrow will be warm, double digit warm in Yuzawa town but how warm on the higher mountains? Don't know of course but it will be a mild one followed by a return to colder temperatures later on Sunday.
All open as normal this morning.

The snow didn't last too long yesterday, ending up just cloudy but we have had another sprinkling of snow overnight... just 1cm being reported at Kagura this morning. It has soon cleared up though and right now a fair bit of blue sky is on view behind the clearing clouds and it looks like we will get to see more even though there is still a lot of cloud hanging on.
There is only a slight breeze this morning as well which means that all of the resort areas at Naeba and Kagura are open as normal for a weekday this morning.
This evening the snow clouds should be back and we might be lucky enough to get another bit of snow up on the mountains.
Right now it is 0 degrees in the village.

It is snow this morning.
Up to 5cm or so at Kagura and just sprinklings lower down, the snow is a welcome change from the rain that we saw earlier yesterday.
Fairly strong winds are preventing the whole area to open - from Mitsumata to the No1 quad lift at Kagura and most of Tashiro should be open - though the top Kagura lift is not opening ealry on but if conditions improve it will later.
Conditions should improve this afternoon as the snow clouds disperse and leaving it just cloudy. Fairly cold morning again with the current temperature in the village around 0 degrees.

Yesterday I said it was a warm morning...... well, it's warmer still this morning! A whopping 11 degrees in the main Yuzawa area earlier on and about 9 degrees here. Curiously that is set to dip more and more as the morning rolls into the afternoon. It might end up fairly chilly later on which means that hopefully this drizzly rain that is now falling will be snow later. The forecast has it drying up a bit before we get that snow though. Whatever, as long as the rain dries up asap as obviously it isn't doing any favours at all to the snow conditions out there.
The lower part of Naeba is visible but the top of the mountain and also much of Kagura is shrouded in cloud early this morning. Still some blustery winds but much less than yesterday and as such the resort areas are all open as normal today -- might not be perfect snow and weather conditions today, but open all the same.
So how much snow can we expect? Not a huge amount maybe just a sprinkling but lets hold out for more. The snow clouds should be around most of tomorrow and Thursday as well.

It sure is a warm morning. Yesterday was very mild but we are milder still this morning. Kagura are reporting a whopping +6 degrees! It is actually warmer higher up than it is lower down if the reports coming in are right.
It is a fine and shadows are being cast on the lower slopes of Naeba early on, but strong winds are leaving only part of the resorts open. While both Gondolas are moving at Naeba, the Dragondola is closed along with all of the Tashiro area of Kagura. At Kagura, it is open via Mitsumata up until the No1 quad.
Rain likely tonight I'm afraid though we are holding out on the chance of light snow sometime later on tomorrow. Temperatures will need to drop considerably - fingers crossed!

It's -2 degrees at Kagura this morning and -1 in the village. Fairly cold with a bit of a wind and just cloudy conditions, though bright and there is a good chance of things clearing up as the day moves on. In fact, as I am writing this the sun has started to cast some shadows down on the lower slopes of Naeba.
No snow overnight though later on in the day yesterday there was some sleet and snow falling at higher elevations... just a sprinkling though, nothing in terms of new cm to report.
All resort areas and gondolas/ropeways operating as normal today.
Tomorrow the forecast is for a clear and sunny day with warmer temperatures.
The next cold snap still due to be with us around Tuesday/Wednesday, perhaps with some rain before the snow arrives.
