That blue sky I spoke of yesterday really opened up and we ended up with a very clear, very blue sky day out there. Great stuff. Hardly a cloud in the sky by mid-afternoon.
This morning there is no new snow to report at either Naeba or Kagura. It's altogether more cloudy this morning though and grey rather than blue. Earlier on there was still some blue sky around but that is covered up now and light snow is forecast for the day actually, so perhaps it is on it's way.
All lifts, gondolas and ropeways are open as normal this morning.
Sun tomorrow and Monday perhaps... it might even RAIN (!) later on Monday as temperatures warm up but thankfully that seems set to not last long as they drop again and we are back to snow from Tuesday. Let's no raining!
For the time being should be a fab weekend with very fine snow conditions. Enjoy!

Same story as yesterday in terms of snow --- 10-20cm or so here in Naeba. Kagura not reporting quite as much but still another 30-40cm to add to everything that has fallen in the last week or so. The snow depth up there is now officially 350cm, but surely it has to be more than that (he muses)!
The difference this morning is that I can actually see some blue sky above. Not completely - there's still a lot of cloud - but some blue sky is more than we have seen for a while. It should be a very fine day out there.
Next week, mid week, we might be back to snow, but for the time being it does look like we will see nicer weather over the weekend - certainly not the snow storm kind of conditions that we have seen lately. Here's hoping for some blue skies and sun.
It looks like all of Kagura and most of Naeba should be open today for weekday operations today.

Morning. Another 10-20cm or so in Naeba this morning and, you guessed it, it is still snowing. It just isn't letting up. There's a bit of a wind out there especially higher up but apart from the Dragondola which is on standby, most weekday lifts seem to be moving this morning - though some upper courses at Naeba are closed early on. Expect things to change if and when weather permits. The No2 Gondola is moving though.
Over at Kagura they are reporting another impressive 50-60cm of snowfall overnight, but strong winds are messing around with resort operations again unfortunately. From the Mitsumata Ropeway to the Kagura No1 pair lift and from the Tashiro Ropeway to the Tashiro No1 quad lift areas are open this morning.
By most accounts today would seem to be the last of the heavy snow for a while (perhaps?!) with tomorrow and Saturday looking like there's a chance of light snow but always a chance of things clearing up more. Sun and milder temperatures on Sunday? Would make a change, that's for sure! Let's see how it pans out.
Bottom line though - fantastic snow conditions and lots of deep snow to play in.

Kagura reporting 10-20cm of snow this morning though I expect that to include what fell yesterday as there doesn't seem to have been that much fall overnight, though winds overnight may well have been blowing things around.
Other than the Dragondola being closed today due to wind, it looks like all of Kagura is open as normal.
Stronger winds here at Naeba are affecting operations more here though. We have 10-15cm or so of snow, stronger winds on the top of the mountain means that the upper area isn't open at the moment and right now the planned-to-be-moving Prince Gondola No2 isn't moving. So limited operations today and while there is just some light snow falling up there now, heavier snow as well as those strong winds are forecast for the day and also for tomorrow.
It's looking like this should all calm down by the weekend though with the chance of a sunny day on the horizon!

This morning Kagura reports 30-40cm of new snowfall and Naeba here we have perhaps 20cm or so as this prolonged period of snowfall continues. Actually at the moment it isn't snowing hard and the clouds that were right down to the base of Naeba before have backed off somewhat so we can actually see the bottom half of Naeba from the base now. Might it even clear up? Hmm, probably not as we have more snow on the forecast for the next few days as well.
Top lifts at Naeba are being checked and snow being moved around but they hope to get those open a bit later on this morning. The Dragondola is set to start moving at 9:30am.
Kagura is open from the Mitsumata Ropeway to the Kagura No1 quad lift and from the Tashiro Ropeway to the Tashiro No6 pair lift. Early on the connectiong part between Tashiro and Kagura between Kagura No4 pair lift and Tashiro No8 pair lift) is closed, but they hope to open that once they have done their checking thing.
Still plenty of terrain available and lots of deep snow to be found within the resorts - plenty to be enjoying there. Venturing outside is not a good idea right now. Have fun and stay safe.

OK so another 50cm or so at Kagura since yesterday report as we saw snowy conditions continue and indeed continue this morning.
The good news from Kagura is that those electrical problems have been fixed up, but the less good news is that today winds are affecting operations there - Tashiro is closed for the day so just Mitsumata > No1 quad lift at Kagura is open.
At Naeba the Dragondola and Prince No1 Gondola are being rested and so is the Hiuchi No1 pair and Takenokoyama pair lifts up top along with those top courses.
There's no real letting up with the snow in the next few days and while today might just be light snow falling tomorrow and Wednesday look set for heavier snow once again.
