Nozawa Onsen snow resort is now closed. The 08/09 season should begin around early December.

Report:
Welcome back to Nozawa Now. Summer came and went, with quite a few really hot days in there was well though much cooler on the mountain. We are already nearly into October and people in the village is now preparing for the coming winter season.

It is getting much cooler as well now with temperatures dropping considerably this week in particular. Today the top temperature was just 16 degrees and it is looking likely that tomorrow will be colder still.... it is getting quite chilly in the evenings!

The snow is still some way off and before then we have the magnificent autumn colors to enjoy on the mountainsides.

In the coming weeks we will posting more reports on this page as the season approaches in Nozawa. And of course, going daily once the season gets underway.

Report:
After a fine day it is getting darker now, the lifts have stopped moving for the last day and the season is now officially over in Nozawa. That went quick! Only 6 months or so to wait for the next snow to fall...

In the meantime, Nozawa is still a really nice place to visit when there's no snow and is worth checking out.

Report:
Morning and welcome to the last day of the official resort season here in Nozawa. It is a comfortable cool morning but the sun is out and it looks like it will be fantastic weather for the last day of the season.

Lifts moving today are:

Nagasaka Gondola (both parts)
Paradise Four
Uenotaira Four
Skyline connecting pair
Yamabiko No 2 Four
Yamabiko Four

(Two other lifts at the resort will be running, but they are for pole training and private use).
