Weather conditions:
Clear skies
New snowfall:
10cm @ 600m

Report:
A clear blue sky day in Minakami this morning. Yesterdays snow did not amount to much more than 10cm at the valley level but some of the upper mountain fields received over 20cm. (Tenjin)

The outlook for today and tomorrow is for clear skies and sun, but the temperatures should remain relatively low (below 3 deg C)

The weekend still looks like snow but it is likely to be only light snow falling intermittently throughout the day. The winds should be relatively mild so all fields should have all lifts operating in Minakami over the weekend.

Backcountry
Pits dug last weekend revealed no significant weak layers (East face 1800m). With the recent warmer temperatures the snow pack will be stabilizing. There are still many small trees poking through but there are some lines to be taken. Another 2m of snow will cover most shrubs and small trees but until then a bit of bush bashing is required.

Weather conditions:
Snowing
New snowfall:
2cm @ 600m

Report:
So much for sun.

Light snow falling in Minakami again this morning with a current precipitation rate of 2cm/hour. It looks like it will snow through to mid afternoon and then clear up, bringing an estimated 14cm to the valley level and up to 30cm in the upper mountains.

There is now more snow forecast for tomorrow and again for the weekend. So the snow conditions should be great for all weekend warriors

Tenjin is getting the most snow in Minakami (as per usual) with a current snow base of 200cm. The other ski areas all have good covering with the upper fields averaging 150cm of snow depth and the lower fields averaging 100cm.

Weather conditions:
Overcast
New snowfall:
2cm @ 600m

Report:
Some very light flurries of snow early this morning have since dissipated to leave a cool overcast day with a current temperature of 0 deg C at the valley. There are a few snow marks on the forecast from this evening but it will not amount to much precipitation.

Tomorrow is looking like a very similar day to today with temps hanging around 0 deg and remaining overcast. The next decent snow looks like it will come this coming weekend with snow predicted Friday through Sunday.

Temperatures around 0 deg will aid in the bonding of the fresh snow to create a good solid base layer for the season. Let's hope temps don't rise too high when the sun comes out on Wednesday.
