Well what a surprise we have in Hakuba this morning.
A peep out the window shows a beautiful 10cm blanket of snow and to top it off a warm, clear day is expected.
Currently we are experiencing some low lying valley fog but as I type it looks to be clearing.
Temperatures are expected to reach a max of 5 and stay in the positives for the next few days.
With a good boot cover of snow on the ground its a great day to get out and enjoy the clean white stuff, before forecast rain tomorrow night.
Enjoy the uncrowded slopes and make a straight line for your favorite powder pocket.
remember to ride safe and enjoy.

It's your typical post winter morning in the Hakuba valley.
With visibility and the snow condition great at lower elevations, its a good morning to get some turns in early.
Snow is forecast for later in the day into tonight and light winds expected also (there's actually currently some light flakes falling now as well), making for another good day of skiing or boarding perhaps especially tomorrow. A high of around 4 degrees is forecast during the day.
Temperatures below zero are expected overnight with a chance further sprinklings of snow down to village, followed by mild temperatures during the day the next couple of days especially Saturday when it is forecast to really warm up once again... we could very well be into double figures.

With winds overnight from the NW the temperature has dropped dramatically.
We awoke to a light dusting of snow this morning, reminding us that the season has not given up quiet yet.
Snow levels not significant enough to make for epic tree skiing but it should be enough for a clean fast morning on the groomers.
Max temps of 2c by this afternoon are expected with the mercury falling into the minuses overnight.
Enjoy the clean fast runs early or make an afternoon date with the park.
Whatever you're planning on doing out there, enjoy it and ride safe.

This morning in Hakuba it's a hazy, foggy 1 degree. With mid level valley fog and some scattered spots of rain, it could be a good day to stay indoors or do your weekly laundry run!
With temperatures due to drop throughout the day, conditions will become icy later, so your best bet for a ski or board will be earlier in the day.
If you are venturing outside today remember to stay dry and be cautious of the limited visibility at higher levels.
Not really much on the forecast - we might see a sprinkling of snow overnight but after a cloudy start tomorrow might get to see the sun.
Enjoy what snow we have left and ride safe!

It is currently cloudy in Hakuba, the sun is trying to break through however it does not look like it is going to be a bluebird day today. Mild temperatures today so expect some nice soft spring snow on the resorts today. Even at the tops of the mountains are above zero today so the spring type snow should be found right to the peaks of the resorts.
The weather forecast is calling for some light rain this evening, then hopefully turning to light snow tomorrow.
It might be good day to ride the park, do some laps on the corduroy or enjoy the warm temperatures on the patio.

Hakuba is now sunny! The earlier morning clouds have now burned off and the blue skies have opened up! The rain from yesterday has stopped and it was looking like a return to snowy days for a bit last night, however there was no real snow accumulation.
Sunshine and warm temps and quite balmy out there today and a great day to ride. The hills should still have nice soft spring slush in some spots, hard pack and crud. Probably quite variable snow conditions out there due to the temperature gradient from top to bottom and the due to the rain of yesterday. Also expect settlement and compaction of the snowpack caused by the additional moisture of the rain.

It is currently raining lightly here in Hakuba under cloudy skies. The rain started late last night and is expected to continue throughout the day and then turn to snow overnight.
With higher mountain temperatures still below freezing, the rain should be falling as snow at elevations above 1800m. Conditions on the resorts today will be quite heavy wet snow (which was once powder) groomers, packed powder and crud. Expect to see some glide cracks in the snow where the added weight of the rain on the snow make cracks appear in steeper terrain and convex rolls. Wear a good rain jacket and enjoy the probably uncrowded slopes!
The rain was somewhat expected today, however we are looking forward to Sunday which looks like another nice sunny day!
Soft slushy snow will be the norm for awhile until we get another dump (fingers crossed).
AVALANCHE BULLETIN:
Alpine: HIGH
Tree Line: HIGH
Below Tree Line: HIGH
The accumulation of the snow last week atop an unstable melt/freeze and rain crust are creating instability in almost all aspects. Steeper unsupported terrain, around rocks and outcroppings and convex rolls are likely spots to see avalanche activity. Combine this current layer and add in high solar radiation and the risks of a slide will increase.
The added weight of todays rain on the snowpack will also contribute to instability in the areas mentioned above.
Expect sluffing and sluffing propagating to avalanches in steeper terrain. Expect more avalanche activity on south facing solar radiated slopes.
