We have had snowfall since yesterday but nothing significant - at least the roads are nice and covered white again, looking much better than that slushy look a few days ago! It is still snowing but light snow and visibility out there is generally pretty decent. The snow clouds should remain over Shiga Kogen for the next few days though local forecasts seem pretty undecided about how much snow we can expect to get. If it snows like it has been the last few hours, I wouldn't say we can expect that much - although I do hear reports from places to our north that are getting considerably more and so perhaps it will set it more during the day.

I'm glad we got yesterday out of the way as it certainly wasn't one to remember for people wanting to ski/board. Happily we are back to colder times this morning and back to something like normal. We have had a bit of snow overnight - up to 5cm or so in places - but that thin new layer is on top of what had in lots of areas become somewhat icy and hard slopes out there. The snowfall that we have forecast for over the next few days though should hopefully improve conditions once again - looks like snow clouds will be over the area until at least Friday.
It is cloudy at the moment with light snow falling. Hopefully getting heavier as the day progresses.
Lots of fresh snow please!

Hmmm, well it's rain and sleet here in Shiga Kogen this morning. Not the best of news for sure. For a change the roads don't have icy/snow pack on them as the rain has melted that away into slush and we can see the actual roads for a change. It's rare that we get rain here mid-winter but certainly not heard of. It's also rare that temperatures venture into the positive numbers but there are there this morning.
There is good news though, and that is that it should get colder this afternoon and tonight and it should soon be snowing. And then we should have snow clouds above Shiga Kogen for the next few days. So hopefully things should be back to something like normal soon!

This morning looks similar to yesterday in a way - but bluer. Yes, the sun is out once again shining down throughout Shiga Kogen and there are just some wispy clouds hanging on in the sky. But basically a fine, sunny morning. There is no new snowfall to report.
Lots of areas of 'snow Japan' on Honshu seem destined to get some rain today. Will Shiga Kogen escape? Looks like it is going to be borderline but even if it starts off as a bit of rain or sleet/wet snow I think it should turn into snow fairly quickly. After that little event from tomorrow we should see snow clouds around the area until about Friday.

Not a whole lot of snow since yesterday but this morning the skies are much clearer and the sun is shining down and curiously right here in Maruike it is actually snowing! Not sure where that is coming from, but it looks beautiful for a start. And with the blue skies and decreasing amount of remaining cloud I would guess that literally within minutes that will stop leaving us with a lovely day here in Shiga Kogen.
During a quick drive around before I noticed lifts were moving smoothly and there was no waiting for most of them. As the day goes on and people start making their way back home things will start to get quieter so it is a fine day to be out on the hills.
Looks like tomorrow should start sunny as well. Going to get rather mild for Shiga Kogen as well before dropping back down cold from around Tuesday and we should see the snow return.

What a great day it was yesterday! Wonderful combination of clear blue skies and great snow. Nice.
This morning we are back to clouds and snowfall. Visibility isn't too bad at all actually, but light snow is falling at the moment in, it seems, all areas of Shiga Kogen. Not the kind that will bring many cm - it's more like 'just there'.
Tomorrow and Monday in particular we look due to see milder temperatures before it getting colder once again early in the week bringing with it more decent snowfall from around Tuesday onwards.
Have a fun weekend.

Well this morning is a nice surprise. Not only do we have 20-30cm of snow to report since yesterday, but there are some nice blue skies on show above Shiga Kogen. The clouds seem to have taken a sudden retreat leaving these fantastic early morning conditions behind. Everyone out on the slopes of Shiga Kogen this morning are in for a treat with super snow conditions, lots of it, not crowded slopes and fantastic scenery as well.
The forecast for tomorrow currently is cloud with a chance of light snow and clearer conditions with sun on Sunday. After that next week we are due more snow.
For the time being today should be excellent. Hope to see you out there!
