It has been a generally cloudy day in Furano with a high temperature of around 4 degrees this afternoon.
It has cooled down since and some light snow is forecast overnight, but with tomorrow looking like it will be warmer again it might be rain falling early tomorrow morning but hopefully it will be snowing again by the end of tomorrow as well as some fairly strong winds forecast. |

It is looking like another great day out on the mountain. There is just a very gentle breeze at the moment. Combine this with mild temperatures and extensive grooming on the main trails and you have a perfect combination for the day. More snow looks likely for the long weekend on Sunday and Monday.

It is looking mighty fine out there today. We have the sun beaming in on Furano, some blue sky and mild temperatures. With 30cm of fresh snow yesterday the mountain once again is in very good conditon. The main runs have been meticulously groomed and have fresh packed powder on offer. For powder hounds there are still places available for you to enjoy. Apart from a few school kids on the mountain you will pretty much have the slopes to yourself. Todays advice = same as yesterday...get out there and enjoy it.

After yesterdays warm temperatures I didn't think there were going to be too many good things to report today - how wrong could I have been. Temperatures cooled down last night and there has been 20cm of fresh powder in the village overnight. Eyewitness earlybirders have reported 30+cm on feild.
Weather conditions are currently good with some wind and good visibility. It is currently snowing and the forecast tomorrow is for more snow!
All up today is looking very very good. Get out there and enjoy it. |

Yesterday was an absolutely phenominal day out on the mountain. With a substatial amount of new snow having fallen throughout the weekend there was plenty of fresh powder around the mountain. If you are getting face shots in mid March then things aren't too bad at all.
Today has turned tropical. Temperatures in the village are very warm and the roads have transformed themselves into rivers. Expect snow conditions to be wet and heavy as the warm weather has made its to the top of the mountain.

| And it's right back to Winter. Overnight we had 15+ centimeters of fresh snow, and the flurries promise to linger for at least the next few hours before tapering off this evening. It seems like Old Man Winter has not quite yet had his say for this season. On the mountain, conditions should be more than prime with all that fresh powder. I would not be surprised if there were 20-25cm in some spots. The wind has been howling at times upwards of 5 m/s, and then it seems to die down for a while before kicking back up again. The temperature should top out at -2, still well below the freezing mark, meaning any more snow that falls today will stick around for any boarding or skiing you might want to do tomorrow. If you are a fan of deep snow, then today will be the best day in a while that we've had here in Furano. Be sure to bundle up and protect your face while you are out enjoying what might be the last blizzard of the season! |

Did someone say Spring, please? Temperatures have been above freezing for the past 24 hours, and are currently holding steady around 5 degrees. Conditions on the mountain should be soft and slushy and infinitely spring-like. We lost about 10cm over the last few days due to snow melt, but on the plus side, it's fairly warm outside, and it is nice not to shake and shiver on the lifts once in a while.
There is still plenty of snow to be had, but the conditions are less than optimal. The wind has been whipping around since i went to bed last night, and it is currently howling through every crack in my wall at 7 m/s. This is due to an upper level disturbance passing over Hokkaido that should cause temperatures to plummet throughout the afternoon and bring us a chance of fresh, dry snow while we are sleeping tonight. Hold on to winter while you can! |
